The Romea 309 State Road crosses the borough of Ariano nel Polesine between Rivà and Piano: this important road route leads to some of the most beautiful seaside resorts on the Riviera. Future plans for this route include transformation into a motorway and the Forzello Farmhouse will be in a privileged position for any visitors who wish to rest and relax after a night out on the Adriatic Riviera. The splendid Abbey at Pomposa and Comacchio, the little Venice of the lowland valleys, are easy to get to from the Forzello Farmhouse. The state route that leads to Comacchio also passes the 7 lidi or beach resorts that are perfect for younger guests: these are home to some of the most important seaside resorts on the Comacchio territory.
The Abbey at Pomposa
The ancient Benedictine monastery at Pomposa today also includes the Basilica. Inside the beautiful church with three naves there are frescoes dating from the 14th century Bologna school. In the apse there are frescoes by Vitale from Bologna. The Roman bell tower, 48 metres high, the Chapter Room, The Room of Columns, the Refectory, the Dormitory and the Palazzo della Ragione all make up this spectacular church. The Monastery’s chapter room is decorated with frescoes dating from the beginning of the 14th century by a direct pupil of Giotto. The Refectory is home to the most precious cycle of frescoes in the monastery, attributed to an artist from Rimini, said to be the same master that decorated the Capella di San Nicola.
The Comacchio Lidos
The Comacchio Lidos, also known as the Ferrarese Lidos, are 7 seaside resorts situated on the Emilia Romagna coastline, in the borough of Comacchio, province of Ferrara.
These resorts extend along the coast for 25 km between Rovigo in the North and the Province of Ravenna in the South. They are all part of the Po Delta Regional Park. Comacchio
Comacchio is historically and scenically one of the most important town centres in the Po Delta. We advise all our guests at the Forzello farmhouse to pay a visit to this unique town known as little Venice. It is located on thirteen small islands that were formed by the intersection of the mouth of Po River and the sea. Over the years the town has had to orientate its urban and economic development according to Nature’s element: Water.
